{DIY} Candle Holders

Good morning peeps!  Today I wanted to share some Pinterest inspired candle holders I just made!  These are so fun and glamorous!

Check out this awesome tutorial from Hey Gorgeous!

These were pretty easy and fun to make.  Mine weren't perfect, but I was really happy with how they turned out.  Now they are sitting pretty on our entertainment center.  Here's how I made them...I started with this:

Everything I bought was from either Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

2 glass vases (candle holders) - (Hobby Lobby had the best price)
Silver Metallic Tissue Paper
Elmer's Glue
Water
Paint Brush
Scalloped Circle Craft Paper Punch
Scissors
Glossy Modge Podge (I ended up adding one coat of this at the end)

First I punched out a ton of these...it helps to fold the sheets so you can punch several at a time.  I cut a few in half to begin the first layer.

Then you put some glue in a small bowl, add a little bit of water.  You want the consistency to be thick and white...not too watery, or they won't stick.  Then you just take your paint brush and paint the glue mixture on the glass.  (It helps to hold it like in the picture below.)  Then you start placing your half circles around the top.  Paint over them with the glue mixture as you go.  For the next layer add the circles...you can make whatever kind of pattern you want.  I would recommend using a lamp nearby to light up the vase a little bit...this way you can see what you are doing.

When you get to the bottom, cut the circles in half again for the last layer.  Don't forget to paint the glue mixture over the circles as you go.  I let them completely dry...then I went over everything with one coat of glossy modge podge to seal them.

And here is what you get!

  Happy Tuesday friends!

  15. My wife loves all things candle. She once had a candle that smelled like Root Beer barrel candies. I think she would just die happy if I were able to find that scent again. Anyone know where they make the Root Beer scented candles?
